文月　恵津子＊

銅版画のメゾチント技法は１７世紀半ばに発明され、19世紀末の写真機の登場により衰退したが、２０世紀後半に日本人版画家・浜口陽三、長谷川潔らにより豊かな芸術表現として再生し、今日にいたる。

1988 銅版画家・玉上恒夫氏に師事（〜1992）
1992 銅版画家・玉上恒夫氏のアシスタントを務める（〜1994）

自己紹介

長年に渡りイラストレーターとして広告、パブリシティ、出版、TV制作の仕事に携ってきた。この間、シリーズで掲載された宮沢賢治の童話の挿絵に銅版画を用い、好評を得る。その後、２００１年の個展”だから殺してはいけない　“thus, you shall not kill(not from the Bible)"より、本格的に作品を発表。

Etsuko Fuzuki has started her career as an artist later in her life. She started as an illustrator for advertising, PR, publishing and TV when she was young. During these years, she was recognized by her copperplate prints, that were made for the storybook series of Kenji Miyazawa. After that, she opened her first solo show 'thus you shall not kill. (not from the Bible)' in 2001, which was the serious start as an artist. She entered into full-scale print production since then and has been one of the acclaimed artists in Japan by now.


私の作品を見るに人々に「宇宙をテーマに作っているのですか？」とよく質問される。初めてそれを聞かれたときはビックリしたものだ。心の底から湧いてきたものを目に見える形にした結果、いみじくもイメージがそれと重なるらしい。これはいったいどういうことなのか？私は銅板画のメゾチント（mezzotint）技法を主体に版画を作っている。美しい黒色に到達するために単純な版の目立てを延々と続ける。人はこれを「退屈ではないか？」と聞く。私にとってのその行為は退屈どころか、いかにも楽しい事の一つである。この時間は瞑想であり、覚醒を与えてくれるのである。

作品が静かに、とても静かに、人々と語りつづけられたら本望である。

There is a question frequently asked from those who see my works, ‘Are you working on cosmos?’ I could not speak a word when I was exposed to the question. I give a shape to what comes from the bottom of my heart, whereas, the image becomes something like cosmos to the viewers. What is this all about? I work on block prints mostly based on mezzotint of copperplate print.

In order to reach the perfect beauty of black, I end up doing a single action of the thing on a plate on and on and on. People ask me, ‘Are you not bored?’ The simple repetition is not boring at all, on the contrary, it is a real pleasure to me. This each moment is the quality time of meditation for me. This moment leads me to awakening.

When my work speaks and speaks to people with serenity and in peace, my heart will be filled with joy.
